Daly will play in Monday Shoot-Out and the Tournament

(Boise, Idaho – August 29, 2011) – Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft Executive Director Jeff Sanders announced today PGA TOUR legend John Daly has accepted a sponsor’s invitation to play in the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft September 15-18 at Hillcrest Country Club. Daly had previously committed to play on Monday, September 12th at 3 PM in The Michelob Ultra “Battle of the Big Guns” Shoot-Out at Hillcrest in a head-to-head duel with Long Drive King, Canadian Jamie Sadlowski in support of two outstanding Boise organizations. Daly will represent and play for the Boise State University Golf Programs and Sadlowski will do the same for the YMCA Activate Treasure Valley Campaign.

Daly, the former PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year, 1991 PGA Championship winner, 1995 British Open Champion and 11-time PGA TOUR Long Drive champion will add major excitement to this year’s tournament after participating in the Michelob Ultra Shoot-Out on Monday. Known as one of the golf’s most colorful personalities and longest drivers, Daly is always a fan favorite. “We are thrilled John will stay and play in the tournament and we thank him for returning to Boise where he played in the inaugural 1990 Ben Hogan Boise Open,” said Sanders. “Having John in the field gives the local community one more unique opportunity to see him perform and another great reason to come out and support local charities that benefit from the sales of tickets to the tournament.”

“I am an avid Boise State Bronco football fan,” Daly said. “I think it would be awesome if they would paint the golf course blue! I have always enjoyed playing in Boise, entertaining the fans and spending time in the city. Boise is a great place. I look forward to helping Albertsons raise money for local charities.”

More than 130 non-profit organizations have the opportunity to benefit from this year’s Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft through the Sara Lee TICKETS Fore CHARITY program. Non–profit organizations taking part in the Sara Lee TICKETS Fore CHARITY program sell tournament tickets and keep 100% of the sales they generate. Albertsons parent company SUPERVALU and Sara Lee also provide a $50,000 bonus pool that is distributed to the program participants based on each organization’s percentage of total ticket sales.

Over the past 21 years, the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft has generated nearly 12 million dollars for charity, making it the longest running and most successful event in terms of charitable contributions on the Nationwide Tour.
